What we build for

We use semantic page structure, skip navigation, visible keyboard focus, descriptive labels, accessible form controls, meaningful alternative text, responsive layouts, and clear status messaging. Key research workflows are designed for keyboard as well as pointer interaction and for use across different screen sizes.

How we test

Key public routes—including the Praxis Data Lab homepage, NHANES collection, Variable Explorer, Study Builder, research resources, and policy pages—are included in automated axe-core accessibility regression checks. We also test important keyboard-operated workflows, such as variable search and filtering. Automated testing supports, but does not replace, human review and feedback from people using assistive technology.

Complex research content

Large datasets, codebooks, scientific tables, charts, downloadable files, and evolving research interfaces can create accessibility challenges that automated checks do not fully capture. We continue to improve these experiences and can help identify an alternative route or format when a barrier prevents access to a Praxis Data Lab function or resource.

Please include the page or resource, what you were trying to do, the browser or device you used, and any assistive technology relevant to the issue. For a problem with a paid Study Package, select Paid Study Package support in the form.

Do not send passwords, payment-card details, sensitive credentials, or sensitive personal or health information through the form.

Ongoing improvement

Accessibility is part of our product and quality process rather than a one-time review. Reported barriers are used to guide remediation, regression testing, and future interface decisions as Praxis Data Lab expands its research tools and data products.
